About Us
Avasar Nepal
Because every girl
deserves a chance.
We are a collective of people who believe that where a girl is born shouldn’t define how far she can go. At Avasar Nepal, we work with adolescent girls from remote and marginalized communities, helping them gain the tools they need to take charge of their own futures.
We’re not here to give handouts. We’re here to open doors — to education, to self-worth, to possibility.
Girls Facilated
Today, we have 13 girls in our care. Over the years, we’ve supported more than 20 girls—many of whom are now independent, working, and giving back to their families and communities in Bajhang.
Why We Exist
Opportunity shouldn’t be a privilege
it should be a right.
Across rural Nepal, too many girls are held back by circumstances beyond their control — poverty, early marriage, lack of access to education, and harmful social norms. These girls are smart. Brave. Capable. They just need a fair shot.
We started Avasar Nepal to make sure they get it.
Our Mission
To create real,
lasting change
We work to empower adolescent girls from marginalized communities by helping them:
- Stay in school and complete their education
- Build life skills, leadership, and self-confidence
- Understand their rights and speak up for them
- Participate in decisions that shape their lives and communities
We don’t just want girls to survive — we want them to thrive.
Our Vision
A Nepal where every girl grows up safe, educated, & heard.
We imagine a future where no girl has to drop out of school to care for siblings. Where her worth isn’t tied to dowry or domestic work. Where she can lead, earn, create — and decide her own path.
That’s the Nepal we’re building. That’s the Nepal she deserves.
Our Story
Founded in 2022.
Rooted in belief.
“Avasar” means opportunity in Nepali — and that’s what we stand for. We started this journey in 2078 B.S. (2022 A.D.) as a registered, non-governmental, and non-profit organization based in Kathmandu. Since then, our focus has been clear: reach the most remote areas, work with the most underserved communities, and uplift the girls who are too often left behind.
We’re here for the long run — not just to offer help, but to walk beside them, step by step.
What We Do
To create real, lasting change
We believe that real change comes from understanding the whole picture. That’s why our work doesn’t stop at the classroom. We support girls through:

Education Access
scholarships, supplies, and mentorship

Skill Building
training in leadership, life skills, and financial literacy.

Advocacy
rights awareness and community dialogue

Safety & Support
safe spaces, counseling, and protection from harmful practices

Our Approach
Change doesn’t happen
in isolation.
We work hand-in-hand with parents, teachers, local leaders, and government agencies to make sure our programs are community-led and built to last. Change isn’t something we bring — it’s something we nurture, together.
Why It Matters
When you empower a girl, she transforms everything around her.
When you empower a girl, she transforms everything around her.
Her family. Her village. Her future.
This is what drives us — the belief that girls aren’t just beneficiaries of change. They are the change.
A Message from Our President
Leading with purpose,
grounded in compassion.
When we started Avasar Nepal, it was with one simple belief—every girl deserves a chance. A chance to learn, to grow, to dream, and to shape her own future—no matter where she’s born.
In the remote corners of our country, many girls are still denied this chance. But we’ve seen what happens when they’re given the right support. They thrive. They rise. They become leaders in their families and communities.
At Avasar, we don’t just work for girls—we work with them. We listen to their voices, understand their realities, and stand beside them every step of the way. From education to emotional support, we are committed to building pathways where possibilities once felt impossible.
This is more than a project. It’s a movement of empathy, action, and hope. Thank you for being part of it.
– Mingma Sherpa, President
